Background

About Murat Kasar

I’m currently a Senior Technical Support Engineer at Fortinet in Prague, but my background is a unique mix of enterprise security and high-availability system administration. I specialize in L1-L7 networking and switching, backed by RIPE certification and a deep focus on state-of-the-art security. My experience centers on maintaining mission-critical infrastructure, where I’ve managed HA and clustered virtualization environments with ~99% uptime 24/7. Beyond the hardware, I bring a heavy focus on compliance and resilience. I’ve been officially assessed and certified for PCI DSS, having successfully delivered three of these certifications to FinTech clients. This means I don't just 'make things work'; I ensure they are secure, replicated, and compliant with global financial standards through rigorous physical and software backup strategies and DC/DRC management. I’ve spent the last few years specializing in complex security environments—most recently at Fortinet and previously as a SysAdmin/Team Lead at engineering-solutions VeriTeknik Datacenter. I’m very comfortable in several Linux distributions as well as macOS and Windows/Server and have a strong foundation in networking and DC/DRC management. To give you a bit of flavor of who I am outside of the terminal: I’m a former U18 National Team ice hockey goalie, so I’m naturally competitive and thrive in high-paced environments. I’m also into etymology and MMORPGs—so whether it’s tracing the roots of a word or optimizing a raid strategy.
