About Murray Curnow

I am an experienced investigator specialising in Risk Analysis; Occupational Health and Safety; and Emergency Management. Most of my experience has been initially gained in the Victoria Police Force. In more recent times it has been in Shopping Centre Management – having worked for the Vicinity Group at the Altona Gate and Northland Shopping Centres. What I have particularly enjoyed is problem solving – being given a task; researching it; finding a solution and putting it into practice. For example, at Northland, I developed the Emergency Management Plan in relation to the possibility of an active shooter in the shopping centre and introduced this concept to staff, retailers and other stakeholders. I also contributed to the centre’s Terrorism Management Plan. My goal at the moment is to make work places a safer place to be. With the threat of terrorism being extremely high, I am looking to work in places of mass gatherings with a view to introducing measures to reduce this risk. Some avenues I am currently exploring are large sporting venues, major shopping centres and places where major events are held.
