About Murray Smith

I am a Non-Executive Director, COO, Head of Strategy with 30 years senior executive and board level experience across the resources, financial services, government administration and childcare services industries. At Board level I drive outcomes by helping Director’s and executive define and execute value generating / impact enhancing strategies through multiple growth horizons. I do this with an acute understanding of financial drivers, risk and ESG appetites, organisational disciplines and the capacity to ‘lift’ Board contemplations. I have specific expertise in organic and inorganic growth, international operations, partnering and joint ventures, M&A, capital raising, debt restructuring and working in highly regulated sectors. As Chief Operating Officer for the M Resources group of companies I am responsible for Strategy, Finance, IT, Administration and for M&A due diligence and integration. Earlier roles include serving as a Statutory Officer of the Queensland Cabinet and Governor in Council responsible for the State’s Financial Provisioning Scheme, COO at IFAA, Project Director Mozambique and Senior Vice President Enterprise Strategy Aurizon and Executive General Manager Business Partnerships Suncorp. I have a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment and a RG146 Qualification in Superannuation. I am a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
