About Mutsumi Sebata

I am a university lecturer at Meiji University, where I teach and research english, linguistic anthropology, discourse analysis, and intercultural communication. I have finished a PhD course in Linguistics at Rikkyo University, and I have also studied at The Australian National University and Tohoku University, gaining a broad and interdisciplinary perspective on language and culture. With over 10 years of experience in academia, I have developed core competencies in qualitative and quantitative research methods, linguistic and discourse analysis, intercultural communication theory and practice, and pedagogical design and evaluation. I have published multiple academic papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and I have participated in several international collaborations and projects with other scholars and institutions. My field of expertise is the intersection of language, culture, and identity, and how they shape and are shaped by social and historical processes. My mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and understanding of intercultural communication, language and culture, and to foster intercultural awareness and competence among students and society. My values and goals are to promote intercultural understanding, diversity, and social justice in my work and in my community.
