About Mya McBrayer
I graduated from Rogers State University with my bachelors in Medical Molecular Biology and minir in psycholoy in May 2012. Following that I attended the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center (OUHSC) Tulsa campus and graduated with my Masters in Occupational Therapy in May 2016. During my 3 years at OUHSC, I had fieldwork experiences in a variety of settings including: inpatient, outpatient, hand therapy, skilled nursing, long-term care, wound care, acute, pediatrics, and aquatic therapy. Before applying to OUHSC, I completed the majority of my observation hours at the VA in Claremore, OK, where I fell in love with occupational therapy and all that this amazing career had to offer. During my time at OUHSC I have focused my research on: 1. Military care including polytrauma, PTSD, burns, amputations, and substance abuse 2. Yoga and it's wide variety of benefits and adaptability to be used as a therapeutic intervention 3. Mental health and the evolving role of OT in this setting, specifically motivational interviewing
