About Myintzu Aye

As a counselor at Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ (KSPHQ), I provide crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals and families who are struggling with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. I also collaborate with other mental health professionals and community partners to raise awareness and promote prevention strategies. I pursued Master of Social Work degree at the University of Kansas, with a focus on clinical social work. My goal is to apply my skills and knowledge to help people overcome trauma, violence, and discrimination, and to empower them to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Previously, I worked as a GBV Programme Analyst at UNFPA, where I supported the design, implementation, and monitoring of gender-based violence prevention and response projects in conflict-affected areas. I also facilitated trainings and workshops for health workers, government officials, and civil society organizations on GBV-related topics. Before joining UNFPA, I was a medical doctor at MSF, providing primary and emergency health care to populations in need, especially women and children. I also participated in several research and advocacy initiatives on neglected tropical diseases and malaria. I have a strong background in medicine, gender equality, and project management, as well as multiple certifications and honors, including a Fulbright Scholarship and an Integrated Approach to Care for Survivors of Sexual Violence certificate. I am passionate about using my expertise and experience to make a positive difference in the world.
