Background
About Mzi Patrick Kaka
In the process of obtaining my diploma in Sound Engineering, specializing in radio broadcast, I began my radio career at community station 1485 AM Radio Today as a technical producer and desk controller. Thereafter I made the move to Metro FM where I was Technical Producer for The Metro FM Top 40, weekend variety show - Le Bon Vie and weekday lunchtime show - Lunch with Penny & Leko. After having obtained my Sound Engineering diploma, I was appointed the Technical Producer for the Metro FM breakfast show (The Morning Jam with Kenny Maistry). A year later, I ventured into youth development with BONAFiDE SA where we conducted youth development workshops at high schools centred around self-esteem and self-actualisation. In 2018, after completing a radio academy course with Hot 919 Radio Training Academy, I was selected to train further on-air at Hot 919. I have since enjoyed a stint at STAR 919 and am currently at Hot 1027 where I received an SA Radio Award nomination for best night time radio show. As of September 2020, I have returned to my alma mater, Academy of Sound Engineering, as a lecturer in the Broadcast Elective.Career Achievements & HighlightsGraduated Top of Broadcast Class - Academy of Sound Engineering 2008Finished joined top of Future Leaders Program - Merchants SA 2014Selected for Hot 919 On-Air Training from Hot 919 Radio AcademyNominated for SA Radio Award ‘22 for Best Night Time ShowUniversal Music Group Listening Session Facilitator - Lloyiso SEASONS EPAfrica Rising Music Conference Speaker/Panelist - Developing Independence
