About Nabil Wasif

As Division Chief of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona, I lead a team of academic surgeons dedicated to providing cutting-edge, highest-quality care for patients with cancer and endocrine disorders. Under my leadership, we have built the largest CRS/HIPEC program and the busiest robotic HPB program in the Southwestern United States, pushing the boundaries of surgical innovation and excellence. My clinical expertise includes peritoneal surface malignancies, appendiceal cancer, melanoma, gastric cancer, and sarcoma, and I have been consistently recognized as a Mayo Clinic Arizona Top Performing Provider (>99th percentile) and a Phoenix Magazine Top Doc for surgical oncology. To further enhance my leadership and healthcare management skills, I earned the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) designation from the American Association for Physician Leadership. This certification has strengthened my ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, drive organizational excellence, and implement innovative healthcare strategies to improve patient outcomes. Beyond my clinical leadership, I am deeply committed to medical education and faculty development. As Associate Chair of Education for the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona, I oversee faculty promotion and development, having previously served as Program Director for the General Surgery residency. My dedication to mentorship and education has been recognized with multiple Educator of the Year awards. In addition to my clinical and leadership roles, I am passionate about advancing the field through practice-changing research. With a Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health (specializing in quantitative research methods), I have led award-winning health outcomes research published in top surgical journals. My mission is to drive innovation, research, and education to improve outcomes for cancer patients.
