About Nader Hamdan

Prof. Nader Hamdan, BDS, MSc, Dent(Perio), FRCD(C), Diplomate ABP, FDS RCPS(Glasg), FICD is a Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Alberta. He also practices periodontics and dental implant surgery at a private practice (Perio Partners) in Edmonton, Canada. Previous to his current roles, Dr. Hamdan was an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Clinical Affairs at the College of Dental Medicine at Qatar University in Qatar. He was the chair of the dental department at Queen Hospital in Doha, Qatar. He served also an Associate Professor and the former Director of the Graduate Periodontics Program as well as the Chairman of Continuous Professional Education, Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University (Canada) for many years. Dr. Hamdan obtained his BDS (DDS) degree in from Jordan University of Science and Technology, practised general dentistry for 12 years before pursuing an MSc in dental sciences program at McGill University (Canada), which he completed in 2013. Dr. Hamdan went on to complete a three-year accredited MDent Periodontics program at the University of Manitoba (Canada). In 2016, Dr. Hamdan obtained his second master’s degree - a Master in Dentistry (Specialty: Periodontics), passed both components of the Canadian National Dental Specialty Examination and was certified as a periodontist and later became Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC). Dr. Hamdan passed the examinations of the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery and became a Diplomate of ABP in 2017. Dr. Hamdan is also a Fellow of The Faculty of Dental Surgery, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons - Glasgow, UK and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Hamdan enjoys traveling, lecturing and sharing knowledge with his colleagues through giving CDE courses and has many peer-reviewed publications in addition to co-authoring book chapters and books.
