About Nadia Sbisa

I’m a senior at the University of Michigan pursuing an Honors B.S. in Biochemistry with a second major in Philosophy. My academic path reflects both a strong foundation in molecular biology and a deep interest in the conceptual frameworks behind science and medicine. I’ve completed coursework in bioethics, philosophy of biology, and cognitive philosophy, which continue to shape how I approach complex questions in neuroscience and human health. As a UROP participant turned independent research student, I’ve gained hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques including cloning, cell culture, and confocal microscopy. I’m currently completing an honors thesis in Biochemistry focused on FRT variations in Drosophila, aiming to achieve an broad spectrum of Flp-FRT reactivity. My long-term goal is to earn a PhD and pursue a research career in neuropathology, with a focus on uncovering molecular mechanisms that underlie neurological and cognitive disorders. I’m especially motivated by the intersection of molecular science, neuroethics, and disease modeling. I am eager to contribute to research that bridges molecular insight with meaningful clinical impact.
