A highly motivated ecologist with a diverse set of skills and experiences. Worked and volunteered for not-for-profit conservation organizations, a conservation authority and two environmental consulting companies. Over five years of field research experience surveying a wide variety of species including birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects and plants in both Ontario and Manitoba. Skilled at accurate and efficient data collection in the field and processing and analysis of data for written scientific and technical reports. Experienced with collecting background information, performing desktop assessments and conducting Environmental Impact Studies and Municipal Class Environmental Assessments. Also experienced with running wildlife outreach educational booths and presentations. Specific skills: •Ability to identify Ontario bats and other mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and common plants •Experienced with conducting targeted species at risk surveys and significant wildlife habitat assessments •Field navigation skills using a GPS unit, compass, road map and aerial photos •Experience using radiotelemetry equipment, mist nets for capturing birds and bats, Sherman live-traps, remote field cameras, Song Meter SM4BAT, Echometer Touch and other handheld bat acoustic monitoring devices and Sonobat for analyzing bat calls •Experience using Quantum GIS and Google Earth computer programs •Skilled in data analysis using JMP and SAS •Proficient with Microsoft Office programs •Working knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act and Migratory Birds Convention Act •Experience navigating the Endangered Species Act regulations for Barn Swallow and Chimney Swift •Effective verbal and written communicator •Ability to work both independently and in a team •Organized and able to meet deadlines
