About Nadja Ellinger

I’m a PHP developer and team lead, currently building a complex application with a small, dynamic team. My work is primarily grounded in backend development, though I occasionally wander into frontend and infrastructure when curiosity (or necessity) strikes. I work with PHP, JavaScript, and HTML to create robust and user-friendly systems, supported by tools like PHPUnit, Git/Gitea, Jenkins, Elasticsearch, and Logstash. I’m particularly interested in domain-driven architecture and building systems that prioritize clarity and usability. Outside of coding, I’m a visual artist exploring storytelling through photography. My work draws on folklore and oral traditions to develop new narrative structures. Through collaboration with my protagonists, I create personal narratives that unfold in shared, imaginative spaces—spaces where the boundaries between play and performance blur. Exhibited internationally, my current project, “Path of Pins,” was recently exhibited as a solo show in Ravenna. My work has also been featured at the Copenhagen Photo Festival 2021, OpenWalls Arles 2021, and the Ashurst Art Prize, and I’ve collaborated with clients like Vogue USA and the British Design Museum. For me, everything begins with translation: the process of turning abstract, often pre-lingual ideas into forms that others can experience—whether through code, words, or images. This act of transformation doesn’t just communicate meaning; it creates it. As ideas move from thought to expression, they shift and grow, building common ground while sparking new connections. It’s through this shared process of meaning-making that we craft narratives and imagine new worlds.
