Hosted by UNOPs Cities Alliance is a global partnership and a UN multi-donor fund created in It's purpose focuses on delivering innovative financing and Urban impactful solutions in fighting urban poverty, and supporting Cities to deliver sustainable development. These include Slum upgrading and basic Services, Resilience Cities and Climate Change, Economy and Investments and Women and Gender Equality in Cities. Nahid's role as Senior Advisor focuses on developing new models of impactful urban and infrastructure development, by leveraging investments, through collaboration with the private sector, Banks, NGOs and with Global Governments. Nahid has worked across the private and public sectors, on the delivery of major infrastructure development and economic programmes. An award-winning Urban Planner/Designer, she has led on the delivery of major projects and sustainable place making for Local Authorities, the Private Construction sector, Prince of Wales Built Environment Foundation in unblocking development barriers and ensuring inclusive planning and design. She has advised UK Government on European Structural Funds in Brussels, at the UN in Geneva on UK economic programmes and founded an innovative inward investment model the Regeneration Investment Organisation RIO at UK Trade & Investment. As COO Nahid developed a bankable UK project pipeline, advised Ministers/UK PM on infrastructure investment deals with global investors. More recently she was Director Global Cities KPMG International based in India, working on Global Cities. She developed an innovative Economic Investment Vehicle, a structured investment model to ensure a viable and impactful project pipeline through transparent project criteria and an accountable governance framework. Bringing in Partners Cities Alliance with KPMG Uganda, EIV is being tested as an innovative financing model in developing a viable project pipeline in secondary cities. Working with partners in collaboration, Nahid aims to take the learnings in delivering innovative, impactful and intergrated fnancing solutions in fighting urban poverty, by building capacity and supporting Cities to deliver sustainable infrastructure. Nahid is a mentor for young people. She was a Council Member University College London, Trustee NGO Concern, Global One and Planning Aid. She has sat on various Government Working Groups, Housing, Employment, Poverty and Race Disparity. Nahid received an OBE 2006, listed as top 20 UK Planners, a fellow of British American Project, RSA and received the Freedom of City of London.
