About Nahida Parveen

Collaborating directly with folk artisans, I strive to empower their creative & and economic spirit, enabling us to transcend our artistic boundaries. Together, we embark on an exhilarating journey of exploration and innovation. As a social designer, I firmly believe in the power of a tailored approach that seamlessly merges art, design, and commercial viability to uplift a community. As there’s no one-size-fits-all model; each region and art form is unique, I use my ability and skillsets like product design, artisan training, art collaborations, building business opportunities, and creating market linkages, various verticles intertwined in one model. An approach that exerts a profound and meaningful impact on the evolution of Indian culture and folk crafts. Dwelling deeper in my work I aspire to advance with my research on developing future value chains with inter-connected ecosystems for the realm of handmade. While India has been celebrated for its opulent textile heritage, the art of basketry and other objects has often been overshadowed despite its immense potential. Making basketry my primary medium of work, I move to bring these techniques and folkcrafts to the surface of the modern world. My diverse experience across government, retail, exports, and non-profit organizations has equipped me to blend these different domains in samsaric reality harmoniously.
