Experienced researcher on the intersection of gender and the environment, specifically on natural resource management and disaster risk reduction. Worked on projects such as incorporating women's rights into extractive industries revenue accountability agendas, integrating gender equality and social inclusion into natural resource management in West Africa, monitoring local community approaches to tsunami recovery and biodiversity conservation in Sri Lanka, and supporting women-led organizations focusing on post-disaster reconstruction in the Gulf Coast of the United States. Academic strengths lie in gender and sustainable development, feminist theory, international development, complex emergencies and qualitative methods. Practical experience includes working with organizations such as Oxfam America, USAID's West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change Initiative, United Nations Development Programme (Sri Lanka), the Institute for Women's Policy Research and the Ms. Foundation for Women.
