About Nana Sakyi

An Economist, Nana is results-driven, highly analytical with quantitative data analysis skills and is looking for jobs to engage in data-driven and problem-solving roles that will jump start her career such as Junior Economist or Analyst, etc. Nana is a Ghanaian who moved to Vancouver, Canada to seek higher education. She completed her Bachelors Degree in Arts at the University of British Columbia in 2018 with full-funding from the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship where she pursued a Combined Major in Economics and Mathematics with a Minor in Commerce. This combination allowed her to explore her passion for Economics and aptitude for Mathematics whilst maintaining her deep interest in pursuing a career in the business world. With another fully-funded package from the Mastercard Foundation, she proceeded to pursue a Masters of Art in Economics at the University of Toronto to further explore Economics and achieve her goal of becoming an Economist. Nana explored many extracurricular activities during her higher education that allowed her to build on her leadership and professional skills. Roles like VP Finance for the Africa Awareness Initiative and Residence Advisor at UBC improved her teamwork and problem solving skills whilst others like Community Animator of the Global Lounge at UBC and Chapman Learning Commons Assistant made her define her role as a global citizen, building on her ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds and cultures and critical thinking through problems. Her role as Teaching Assistant during her Masters program allowed her to explore her flexibility, organizational and management skills whilst improving her interpersonal skills. An advocate for Education especially for people in communities and places that have generally been marginalized, Nana is working on a give-back project in her home country where her after school program provides tutoring and mentorship for high achieving students in elementary schools in her hometown who need the extra push and guidance to excel in their National Elementary School Exams to secure spots in the best high schools in Ghana.
