Background
About Nancy Boyer
I decided the direction of my career at a very early age. Growing up on a dairy farm I knew that agriculture & science would be my focus. I started my post secondary education at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1987 and graduated with a Diploma of Biology Technology in 1991. Before graduating in 1991, I worked at the Department of Agriculture in their feed, soil and tissue lab until Dec 1992. My duties consisted of wet chemical analysis of feed, soils and tissue samples for the Research farm and local farmers for quality analysis. In Dec of 1992, I began my full time career at Co-op Atlantic in Moncton, NB as a Lab Technologist for the Quality Assurance Lab. After 5 years of working at the lab, I was chosen to remain after a cut back eliminated all but one technologist. I was then responsible for the QA for the 3 maritime mills and many local farmers and businesses. In 1996 the lab was one of the few labs that offered an important test for farmers, mycotoxin testing for grain products. I was responsible for analysis of feed products, ordering, meeting budget, troubleshooting equipment issues, maintenance, AAFCO check program. I have strong time management skills and able to meet deadlines effectively. At one point in my career, I was able to help a local farmer in NS discover an outbreak of ergot on his farm, saving his herd and giving him the evidence to reach out for government assistance which kept him from losing his farm & livelihood. In 2014, the lab was closed & I was offered a job within Co-op Atlantic (later La Coop Federee) as a category manager for Lawn and Garden products. I learned a whole new job and within a year was meeting budget for a category worth $4.5 million dollars. I worked closely with our 19 maritime farm stores choosing and managing which products work for the stores. In 2018, my company was bought out by a larger company, which meant restructuring. Many of us lost our jobs. In the fall of 2018, I accepted a position at Organigram as Quality Assurance Coordinator. This company focused on the production from growing start to finish medicinal cannabis products. My role exposed me to the many areas of production and the importance of compliance with Health Canada in order to maintain licensing for production. My duties changed rapidly as the company exploded into the industry. Data integrity, procedure compliance, document creation, deviation and CAPA controller. I have proven in my career that I am a loyal and dedicated employee. I can adapt to any situation and I have a love for learning and science.
