Background
About Nancy C.
Designing & Managing AEDI Workforce Development Programs and Pipelines At the City of Redmond, I designed enrichment programs, college and career support, STEM programs, and special events for middle and high school students. I co-created the Learning Immersive Technology program, during my time at Reel Grrls, which is a pipeline using the arts to teach young people of color STEM fields. Cultural relevancy is the key to meaningful engagement and culture shifting. I embedded values of compassion and intersectional feminism to design greater diversity in a male dominated sport through providing a career field and trainings for young people passionate about skateboarding to lead and serve as global leaders and influencers in how skateboarding can transform lives and model inclusivity. Skate Like a Girl’s work is recognized as part of the MOHAI’s Bezos Center of Innovation exhibit, and the Smithsonian’s Innovation Lab. Social Impact Advocacy, Thought Leadership and Social Innovation Committed to creating thought leadership through public dialogue in presenting new and challenging information and narratives that shift towards equitable workforce practices. Co-authored a chapter with Dr. Laura Rattner, “Is a Feminist Lens Enough: The challenges of “going mobile” in an intersectional world?” Routledge Press: Feminist Interventions in Participatory Media: Pedagogy, Publics, Practice. Spoke at the Seattle University Film Panel, “Avengers, Wonder Wom[e]n, and Predators: Sharing Experiences and Strategies for Women Working in the Film Industry,” Curated events like The Future of Film is Feminist Festival, featured in Seattle Met. AEDI Consulting, Change Management, Mentoring and Training the Trainers I have had the pleasure of consulting and developing AEDI strategies and trainings for various organizations like the City of Seattle, Seattle Art Museum, Museum of History and Industry, University of Washington, Office of Arts & Culture and the Seattle Schools’ Creative Advantage and more. Versed in using hands on experiential learning to engage participants in a thoughtful process of self-discovery and group reflection to work towards a shared goal of improving the lives of people through learning opportunities. I am proud to be affiliated with networks committed to diversity, equity and racial justice, like SXSWedu, and the Diversity Practitioners Institute in Baltimore, where I co-presented a hands-on interactive training entitled, “Examining and Tackling White Supremacy in Education Through an Intersectional Feminist Lens.”
