About Nancy E. Baron

As COMPASS' Director of Science Outreach, I work with environmental scientists, helping them translate their work effectively to journalists, the public and policy makers. A zoologist and science writer, I hold communications training workshops around the world for academic scientists, graduate students and post docs as well as government and NGO scientists and have co-developed and led numerous scientist leadership programs. I am the author of the practical guide for scientists Escape from the Ivory Tower: A Guide to Making Your Science Matter. I serve as an advisor to the Liber Ero Fellows in Conservation Science, SciLine and on am on the board of the Sitka Foundation. Since COVID began I am writing a natural history column for my local paper called "In the Naturehood" to raise awareness of nature and conservation.
