Background

About Nancy McGaw

I believe business has enormous potential to create economic value and positive impact on society and the planet. And I know that innovative employees, who see opportunities for companies to change, are key to unleashing this potential. This conviction is based on experience. Through the Aspen First Movers Fellowship Program that I started in 2009, I have mentored and learned from bold and creative intrapreneurs, working in large corporations, who are delivering economic value to their companies while creating a healthier, more just, and sustainable world. My new book, Making Work Matter: How to Create Positive Change in your Company and Meaning in Your Career, captures some of their inspiring stories and offers strategies to help others develop the mindsets and skills needed to become successful corporate intrapreneurs. You can find the book online at Amazon.com. Since joining the Aspen Institute after nearly two decades as a corporate banker, I have become an ardent student of values-based leadership. My work since then has been in service to building the courage and capacity of those who help to align business decisions and investments with the long-term health of society – and the planet. I have had the privilege of speaking about my work in diverse venues, including conferences hosted by the Drucker Forum, the World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship, American Banking Association, AACSB, Net Impact, Business for Social Responsibility, United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), and in corporate settings. Specialties: social intrapreneurship, leadership, dialogue design and facilitation, business education
