About Nancy Mettlen

At nineteen, I participated in a Study Abroad program to Strasbourg, France. This changed my career goals, perception of the world. and my life. My current position organizing performance and educational tours at Cultural Tour Consultants is a direct result of this first experience abroad. In all of my professional positions, I have, in one capacity or another, assisted others in discovering new lands and cultures. My first appointments were in cultural exchange where I administered a College Semester Abroad program and oversaw the placement of international students with families in France and in the United States. Over time, I settled into the field of Cultural Tourism, and currently delight in creating and organizing Performance Tours and Educational Tours to countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, my most favorite place in the world. In 2007, I and two business colleagues, after having worked in the field for over a decade, founded Cultural Tour Consultants where we have the freedom to follow our passion for travel and discovery. While sharing the same work ethic and a high standard of professional integrity, each of us brings a special skill-set to the company. I have worked with scores of music directors, teachers, and university professors through the years. They will tell you my enthusiasm is contagious and my knowledge of Europe, extensive. My tours include opportunities to experience the culture of the countries being visited - joint performances with area music groups, a game of pétanque with local club members, or a cooking class. When, in 1997, I organized my first jazz festival performance tour to Europe for a high school jazz band, I knew I had found my sweet spot. My mp3 collection testifies to my great love and admiration of jazz music as do my tours for jazz enthusiasts to attend and perform at European jazz festivals. In my line of work, business and pleasure are truly one and the same.
