My new bio: Since 1996 I started 20+ years in my profession as a social worker and psychotherapist. Then I retired and asked myself - NOW WHAT? The light bulb turned on when I took my IGNITE skills (a 9-month art teacher intensive training by Connie Solera) and combined this with travel. It was logical that I combine my love of traveling with my love for art and the cultural importance of art communities. Thus - ArtisanWorldTravel.com ~Cruise Planners franchise. I have been blessed by the tutelage of some really great artist colleagues and teachers. It has been a joy to take a deeper dive into my expressive art forms. In 2023, I will be listed as an art workshop facilitator at the Jersey Shore Arts Center! Excited to be local and embrace local artists attending their classes as well. My previous bio: I am a retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a retired Certified Addictions Specialist. I was licensed to provide psychotherapy/mental health services in Oregon, Utah, and Idaho. I continue to have a passion for creating, developing, and facilitating interactive workshops that focus on self-awareness, self-care, and well-being. I have been a public speaker/trainer for over 20 years speaking at conferences, corporate training, agency workshops, classrooms, and community events. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral techniques with Mindfulness Practice to encourage others to seek a pathway to well-being. My past work experience included: Substance Abuse Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment Intensive Outpatient Programs; Community Behavioral Health Service; Residential Treatment Centers for Dually Diagnosed; Transitional Living Programs for Homeless Women and Children; Therapeutic Foster Care; Community Alternative Programs; School-Based Case Management Programs and Private Practice. I have worked with diverse populations including severely disenfranchised, seriously mentally ill, medically fragile, culturally diverse, and LGBTQ adolescents and adults. My experience also includes working with agency start-ups and developing new programs. I utilized evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and Feedback Informed Treatment to address mental wellness. Several of my positions have allowed me to facilitate over 400+ prevention education classes, treatment groups, psycho-educational classes, and workshops. It was an honor to serve as an adjunct professor at Norfolk State University, and several colleges.
