Background
About Nancy Tranzow
Experienced Founder with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization management industry. Skilled in Strategic Planning, and Team Building, political strategy, program development and advocacy. Passionate and dedicated professional with a bachelor's degree in both Microbiology and Environmental Health from Colorado State University. Strong focus on equity and justice in historically underserved and marginalized people and communities. Measured and successful experience in team leading and management under pandemic environment."to build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must continually do to undermine all the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination"-bell hooks Public health is at a necessary crossroads. While the field itself was predicated on the notion that all people deserve access to the things that allow for the opportunity to thrive, communities who are historically underserved and marginalized individuals have a very different lived experience. Covid, while devastating, also laid bare for the world to recognize the inequities in our culture that create disparate impacts upon populations whose needs have long been ignored, underfunded, and/or dismissed. We have a choice in public health as we grow and examine our path forward. To keep the status quo, or to let the lessons of this outbreak teach us that we must do better, think differently, and dismantle systems that maintain the status quo. A committed and out of the box thinker who cut her teeth in HIV/AIDS activism at 18, I am driven to change the system and move towards a community where all people have equal opportunity to succeed and thrive. I believe strongly that the best voices are those with lived experience. In order to accomplish the goal of equality and equity, we must meet people where they are. That empowerment, education, and then getting out of the way is how we help communities thrive. I am not, nor have I ever been a status quo person. I believe that challenging norms, out of the box thinking, and radical evaluation of the systems the create inequity need to be confronted and dismantled. As we do that, we will create a community that re-examines what equity in our communities looks like through a clearer lens.
