About Nancy Wilk

I am a Senior Technical Director-EHS and Industrial Hygiene with WSP, Mine Water Environment located in Cambridge, Ontario (Canada) practicing EHS and comprehensive occupational hygiene since 1986. I am a Certified Industrial Hygienist through BGC ABIH. I currently oversee the delivery of IH/EHS services to the Mining sector as a technical lead within multidisciplinary local and global teams. I believe in volunteering and currently serve as President for the IOHA (International Occupational Hygiene Association) and IOHA Board Director on behalf of ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists). I was a Director and Treasurer on the ACGIH Board of Directors (2019 to 2021). I am the immediate Past-Chair of the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) Total Worker Health(R) Advisory Group. In 2024, ACGIH very generously awarded me their Lifetime Meritorious Achievement Award. In 2023, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) gave me with a CIM Distinguished Lecturer award. In 2022, AIHA awarded me the Aileen Yankowski Outstanding Leader of the Year Award. I am a Past-President (2013-2014) and Past-Director on the Board of OHAO (Occupational Hygiene Association of Ontario) and recipient of the 2020 OHAO Hugh Nelson Award of Excellence in Occupational Hygiene. I have a Master of Health Science degree specializing in Occupational Hygiene from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. I am very familiar with OHS legislation, standards and codes of practice across Canada and internationally. I was a provincial offenses officer for the province of Ontario from 1987 to 1997 enforcing the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations. I have extensive consulting and corporate experience in providing strategic leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of risk management systems including HSSE. As a Senior Global Executive, I provided HSSE leadership to strategic planning, the development and implementation of Golder’s HSSE system (a global earth and environment consulting firm with 7,500 employees in 40 countries with 140 offices), and the delivery and review of an all-employee global health and safety culture survey (2013 and 2016). In 2017, I led the global implementation of fatal risk controls, visible felt leadership, and RU OK? Day, on behalf of Golder. I currently liaise with various workplace parties at every level of organizations to understand and support strategic plans and health and safety cultures. I mentor professionals around the globe.
