About Nancy Yienya

Throughout my academic and professional journey spanning over 15 years, my focus has been on public health, particularly in adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH), women's education, gender equality, and economic empowerment. With a nursing degree and additional studies in Comprehensive SRHR, epidemiology, gender equality, and more, I possess a robust skill set in SRH programming, research, and policy. My studies have also helped me develop a sharp analytical ability, which allows me to deal with the complexities of SRH policy development with precision and insight. My experience includes collaborative work with organizations like Kenya Medical and Educational Trust, Sunburst Projects, Catholic Relief Services, and CIHEB Kenya, where I've spearheaded SRH programs benefitting over 142,598 young people. These initiatives encompassed education, economic empowerment, and advocacy against harmful practices, such as early marriage, unplanned pregnancies, SGBV, school dropout, FGM, and HIV infection. Engaging with diverse stakeholders, I've navigated complex SRH policy landscapes and health system dynamics, honing effective strategies for implementation and evaluation. Beyond professional duties, I've partnered with organizations like Africa Youth Advocacy Network Kenya and Migori County Gender Forum to champion SRH rights and amplify marginalized voices. Through advocacy efforts promoting evidence-based policies and inclusivity, I've worked tirelessly to enact meaningful change at local and regional levels. My commitment to SRH advocacy reflects both personal values and professional ethos, driving me to empower communities and advance equity in health and education. These grassroots engagements are a testament to my unwavering commitment to my cause.
