About Naoki Weldon

Naoki Weldon, born and raised in Southern California, has aspired to be a creator, an innovator, and a problem-solver. In his early youth, he spent his free time building Legos, testing how high, how strong, how large his creations could be. In his adolescence, he fell in love with tennis and music. He competed for his school's tennis team and performed in his school's wind and jazz bands as a percussionist. Through these hobbies, his confidence and identity grew, and he learned the values of teamwork, reliability, and hard work as well as respect for others and selflessness from his parents. In high school, Naoki explored his options as an engineer, designing and building model catapults, testing balsa wood bridges to failure, and making Christmas light displays with Arduino circuits. However, his love for sustainability and resilient buildings was what piqued his interests the most. He began by pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. Over time, he found his interests also aligned with HVAC design and building energy consumption. Naoki is now a recent graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering and extensive coursework in mechanical engineering HVAC courses. He is now working at BMA Mechanical+ in San Luis Obispo as a Mechanical Designer, enjoying a nice bike ride to work every morning.
