About Naomi Simpson

Industry Work: As Global Leadership Partners Manager at C40, my goal is to elevate and celebrate the role of cities which are leading the way in the fight against the climate crisis. By partnering with the most ambitious organisations from civil society, the trade union movement, youth organisations, academia, and the world of diplomacy, we are working to raise ambition and accelerate action for a climate-safe future. Academic Work: I have recently completed my master's degree in Environment and Development and am passionate about investigating how structures of power oppress and restrict potential for positive change. My dissertation/thesis on how children and teenagers experience the environmental crisis, with a particular focus on inter-generational relations and the emotions associated with climate breakdown, used Braidotti's theory of nomadic subjectivity to re-imagine how we might relate to young people during a time of climate crisis. My undergraduate degree has left me with a love of languages and literature which influences my focus on discourse analysis and critical theory.
