I have a passion in supporting the vulnerable members in the community experiencing various social, physical, and mental challenges. Over the years I have provided client-centered responses to help individuals and families with psycho/social/ physical, emotional, and environmental issues navigate the challenges of homelessness and other social challenges. I have utilized my advanced interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, community agencies and the public to advocate for clients and facilitate referrals to address presenting issues and meet their needs. The proven time management skills acquired during my tenure in various capacities has enabled me to organize time and prioritize multiple competing tasks to meet deadlines My job experience in guiding and creating a sense of purpose to clients is a testament of my desire in providing support to people to achieve their desired goals; and the fulfilment I get knowing that clients are given the attention they need to mitigate against physical and psychological challenges brought about by social challenges. I am passionate about incorporating anti-oppression and anti-racism principles in service delivery and promoting equity, diversity and inclusion while maintaining confidentiality. I have undertaken roles that require a high level of communication, interpersonal, team-working, attention to detail, planning and coordination and skill of which I do possess. This is best demonstrated during my entire professional tenure in various entities domestically and abroad. I am Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and SMIS to collect organize and analyze information. I utilize strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills to resolve conflicts, service inquiries, requests, complaints. I am adept at guiding and supporting clients in goal setting and developing service action plans to attain identified goals with an awareness of issues affecting homeless, street-involved, newcomer / refugee, Indigenous (Aboriginal), LGBTQ clients including complex physical / mental health, substance use, and behavioral issues. I am sensitive to Indigenous cultures, contemporary and historical issues, barriers to employment and cultural teachings. I have sound knowledge of community / government resources in harm reduction, housing, social assistance, employment and excellent analytical, research, decision making and problem-solving skills; and ability to assess situations, urgency, & risk.
