Background
About Nat B. Walker
I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated diplomatic, peacebuilding, and development scholar-practitioner passionate about work. I have had an exciting experience working with international organizations which enabled me to gain practical experience in all aspects of nonprofit leadership and management. The nature of my jobs and consultancies over the years exposed me to areas such as program design, strategic planning, program management, development planning, private sector engagement, peacebuilding processes, conflict prevention, project management, human resources management, organizational development, civil society capacity building, grants management among others. I clearly understand USAID, the United Nations, the World Bank, and the rules and regulations of several private foundations. Additionally, I have played a leadership role in the management of large and complex USAID awards funded by various USAID offices including OFDA, FFP, OTI as well as US DOS. Most of these awards had sub grant components which enabled me to gain both management and oversight level experience in sub-granting and partner’s capacity building. My experience is buttressed by my professional affiliation with several educational, peacebuilding, and development networks and my experience as a former editorial board member of the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AFP) online magazine (http://buildingpeaceforum.com/about-afp/); I am also an adjunct faculty member of the Kofi Annan Institute of Conflict Transformation at the University of Liberia and a part of the global advocacy team for the promotion to the locally-led approach to development and peacebuilding. In addition to my many strengths, which make me a good fit for critical postings, is the fact that when it comes to organizational leadership, my programming (technical) and operations (support) management skills are equally strong.
