Passionate and dedicated educator with a deep commitment to student success in the land-based and vocational education sector, particularly in FE. My career spans challenging secondary environments as well as further education (FE) and post-16 vocational training. I am driven by a desire to shape young people's lives, helping them achieve their highest potential through an empathetic and supportive teaching approach. Currently serving as a Programme Leader in Veterinary Nursing, I oversee comprehensive line management responsibilities, apprenticeship programme coordination, and support for both students and staff. I manage day-to-day operations, including overseeing academic progress, setting academic targets, and ensuring quality standards. In this role, I am responsible for coordinating and leading team meetings, managing quality assurance, supporting teaching teams with behavior management, and handling essential administrative duties. I have worked as an Assistant Head of Year in a mainstream secondary school in a diverse setting. This role required close attention to student welfare, including safeguarding, behaviour management, and attendance monitoring. I supported child protection (CP) and team-around-the-child (TAC/TAS) meetings, collaborating with both parents and external agencies to ensure holistic student support. I also managed an isolation unit, coordinated intervention sessions, and facilitated referrals to services. My passion for animal sciences encompasses a range of subject areas, including biology, health, anatomy, and physiology. I have extensive experience teaching these subjects at the FE level, consistently achieving high ratings in both teaching observations and Ofsted inspections. I have a strong commitment to staff development, arranging and leading professional development (CPD) sessions on topics such as teaching and learning strategies (T&L), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support, and behavior management. My goal is to cultivate a robust learning environment that addresses current educational challenges, enhances instructional skills, and promotes best practices in both the classroom and clinical settings. I also work as a course manager, where I directly supported student cohorts, developed and implemented tailored interventions, and collaborated with teaching teams to drive academic progress. With eight years in the post-16 sector, I am passionate about developing challenging learners and helping them reach their full potential through innovative teaching techniques and a compassionate approach.
