About Natalie Levy

As a Soil Health and Organic Materials Management Advisor serving Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties, I am dedicated to creating sustainable, community-driven solutions that address organic waste management and climate change. My work focuses on collaborating with diverse stakeholders to divert organic waste and edible food from landfills, while promoting the application of organic materials back into urban and agricultural ecosystems. Through the development of closed-loop systems that mimic natural decomposition cycles, I help communities sequester carbon, improve soil health, and foster environmental resilience. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is implementing practical, impactful solutions—such as applying a 3- to 4-inch mulch layer to landscapes, which not only enhances soil water retention but also reduces landfill emissions and promotes carbon sequestration by repurposing green waste. Additionally, I am passionate about supporting food waste recovery programs to combat food insecurity and improve sustainability in the three counties I serve. This role allows me to be at the forefront of addressing some of California’s most pressing environmental challenges while empowering communities to build a healthier, more sustainable future.
