Background
About Natalie Scott
Natalie Scott has her BFA in Scenic Design though she spent her time in college obtaining a wide range of theatre skills that she has maintained throughout her career. Natalie spent 10 years with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. She began as an intern in the scene shop working with the Paint and Props Departments before moving into a full-time job with Sound in 2012. In her time in the Sound Department, she grew her skill set and rose in the ranks from an overhire Microphone Technician to an Assistant Sound Engineer. Natalie has mixed several shows as an understudy in both the 1,200-seat outdoor theatre and the 600-seat indoor space. She has worked with musicians and orchestra pits and is incredibly knowledgeable about wireless microphones and working with actors. During this time Natalie also spent 7 years as Adjunct Theatre Faculty at Southern Oregon University. She began by teaching scenic painting but quickly moved into teaching Costume Fundamentals. In that class, Natalie focussed on giving her students a comprehensive understanding of the theatrical costuming profession with a strong emphasis on collaboration and empathy for other artists on one's team. In 2016 the backstage crew at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival unionized and formed the brand-new local of the I.A.T.S.E, Local 154. Natalie was involved in the grass-roots discussions and organizing of the local and once it was chartered she was elected as Treasurer. In that role, she has developed and implemented all of the accounting practices for the Local in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor as well as building the website for the Local and designing and managing distribution for all merchandise and swag. Starting in 2012, Natalie took over hosting Karaoke at a local bar and turned that into a full-fledged karaoke business. Working with several bars over the years and many additional employee hosts, Natalie made a name for herself as a Karaoke DJ, or "KJ". Her LegendaryOke business became a first-call for events and she approached her role with a strong sense of professionalism that focused on her singers having the best time possible. In late 2020, Natalie moved to Missoula, Montana, and worked with independent small businesses doing Systems Management, Marketing, and Design work. She is still available to freelance for many types of remote projects from Website Building to Database Overhaul. Now in 2023, she is home in Portland working the freelance life in Live Theatre and Graphic Design.
