About Natalie Uhe

I currently work as a music therapist with youths between 12 and 18 years of age, who are staying in the psychosomatic ward of a children's hospital. In my work I like to use an integrative therapy approach combining non-verbal elements of music and other creative means with talk therapy and psychoeducation. I feel particularly passionate about the humanistic as well as the systemic and hypnosystemic approach to psychotherapy, which puts the individual client as well as the system they live in at the forefront of the therapeutic work and shines a focus on the client's individual innate resources rather than on any perceived deficiencies. I also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (B.Sc.) and am a Certified Therapeutic Trauma Mentor (CTM) who is experienced in working with children and young people, including those who are neurodiverse, disabled and those who experience mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety disorders, social phobia, eating disorders etc. I also have a Post Graduate Certificate in Emotional Education and am a fully trained Relaxation and Emotional Education Coach. My special areas of interest and passion are attachment theory, neurodivergence, HSP (highly sensitive people) and trauma. I am passionate about supporting people’s mental health and well-being as well as psycho-emotional development. In my individual and group sessions I aim to provide a safe space based on kindness, acceptance and empathy. I enjoy teaching relaxation and mindfulness tools to support the development of emotional self-regulation skills through co-regulation. I believe that it is important to be transparent in my work as a therapist and to help my clients gain a thorough and developmentally appropriate understanding of the functioning of our brains and emotions through psychoeducation. I work in a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive manner, focusing on reducing (toxic) shame, activating innate personal resources and supporting beliefs and experiences of self-efficacy. The therapeutic use of music (active music-making as well as receptive music-listening) has been shown to be a very effective tool in reaching these goals and allows me to provide individually tailored therapy to my clients.
