About Natalie Westerbarkey

With about 25 years of international experience in the financial and regulatory sector, I am a passionate and strategic professional who drives public policy and advocacy initiatives. I’m a Luxembourgish-German national, currently based in Brussels and Luxembourg. My core competencies include capital markets, market infrastructure, buy- and sell side public policies, sustainable finance, corporate governance, investor education, and stakeholder engagement. I am certified as board director by Deutsche Börse in Germany and ILA in Luxembourg. Advancing the interests of clients, while contributing to the development of a more transparent, resilient, and responsible financial system is my main focus. In my roles I have been active as delegate in various industry associations and forums, participated as panel speaker at conferences, sharing insights and perspectives on policy issues, shaping the regulatory and policy agenda in the EU and beyond. Geo-political developments influence financial services policies and have an impact on markets, businesses and clients, hence they represent an important element of strategic advocacy. I lived in countries across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and extensively travelled to the US for business and across Asia to complete an Executive MBA on capital markets. It allowed me to develop deeper knowledge of different cultures, languages and believe systems, which is useful to better engage in upcoming policy activities and anticipate changes in the ever evolving political international landscape.
