About Nate Martel

I am a highly dynamic and adaptable professional with four years of compliance experience, database administration, and a growing GIS and database proficiency. I have a strong interest in geospatial data and analytics. I have a BA in psychology (2014) and recently completed a BS in Geospatial Information Science (2021). I am capable in ArcGIS, ArcPro, and Arc Online. I am also gaining knowledge with QGIS as well. I have become familiar with Python and R programming languages and recently completed a one-year mentorship program where I enhanced and broadened my geospatial analytic skills. I work at OpenGov, a GovTech software company, as Senior Tech Support I. The primary application I work with is "Cartegraph"(Cartegraph was bought by OpenGov in 2022), an asset management database software fused with GIS. Every week I work with 25-35 municipalities across America and resolve about as many technical support cases. I assist customers with software issues, provide training, and help them develop more efficient workflows with Cartegraph. I also help with GIS integrations as well as custom client workflow automation and reporting. In my prior occupation as Compliance Director at YWCA of the Mohawk Valley, my department managed grant contracts valued cumulatively at $1-$2M. We were responsible for implementing policies and procedures aimed at increasing inter-agency collaboration, efficiency, and accountability with regard to the grant contract requirements. I coordinated across several different program and administrative teams to ensure all grant contract requirements were met. My most notable accomplishment was selecting, implementing, and maintaining the agency's first client database called EmpowerDB. Aside from my grant contract responsibilities, I was also the Lead Database Administrator. Along with my assistant, we worked to ensure all staff was properly trained and that all reporting tools functioned to our team's satisfaction within the database.
