About Nate Peters

I’m a tenacious early-career scientist whose work bridges conservation, natural history, and technology. Since my late teens, I’ve focused on understanding the extinction of species—and how best to prevent it. My background includes paleontological fieldwork in the Western U.S, sea turtle rehabilitation in the South, and ongoing efforts to protect wildlife and preserve natural resources wherever possible. I’ve contributed to academic labs studying comparative anatomy, worked with natural history collections on digitization projects, and served aboard ships as a protected species observer. I’ve also administered a half-million-dollar educational grant for a nonprofit and had the unique opportunity to consult on natural history exhibits in a theme park setting. My academic interests include Mesozoic paleoecology, ancient marine vertebrates, Holocene island faunas, and coral conservation. I’ve also spent several years researching de-extinction at a conceptual and practical level. I’m a goal-oriented team player who excels at translating complex scientific concepts for public audiences. With a background in IT support, I bring hands-on experience in Microsoft and Meta VR environments, as well as platforms like MS365, Active Directory, and various CMS tools. Technical proficiencies include: GIS & 3D Visualization: ArcMap 10.5, Dragonfly, Avizo, Amira Collections Management: PastPerfect Museum Software.
