About Nate Ziegner

Hello, my name is Nathan Ziegner. I am currently an Honors junior at Texas Tech pursuing a degree in Journalism, a part of the College of Media and Communications. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I consider myself very social and strive to connect with as many individuals as I cross paths with. In the past, I have been deeply involved or a leader in many of the volunteer organizations I have worked for or am a member of. I have connections to the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, Youth United Way, and the Lubbock YWCA. As of right now, I am working as a student assistant for the Texas Tech Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences(TrUE) and the Office of the President. For TrUE, I manage social media accounts, contact scholarship recipients, and help with yearly events like the Transformative Undergraduate Experiences Symposium and Undergraduate Research Conference. For the President's Office, I work on administrative tasks, complete office tasks, and serve as a liaison to the office staff. I am also a writer for local publishing here in Lubbock as well as the Texas Tech newspaper, the Daily Toreador. For the local publishing every month I am in charge of finding a feature for the magazine, interviewing them, then writing a piece that I submit to get published. I am a reporter for the newspaper that covers a wide range of opportunities and events occurring on campus. I have enjoyed writing for the magazine/paper because Journalism is my passion, which has helped me gain real-world experience in preparation for my future career. Along with these three job positions, I have worked in the public service and manual labor industries. Through these employment opportunities, I have been able to build my problem-solving and interaction skills as well as team working. My ultimate goal for me at Texas Tech is to finish my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree while a part of the Texas Tech Honors College and then pursue a Doctor of Jurisprudence/Master of Business Administration dual degree. In getting these degrees I would love to become a network news anchor/legal correspondent.
