About Nathan Alexander

I joined A Simple House because of its emphasis on personal relationships and serving others within that framework. Whereas many service opportunities have a client-service mentality, A Simple House seeks to recognize those we serve as genuine persons worthy of friendship and dignity. This ennobles our friends to take more initiative and actively work with us in alleviating their specific circumstances. A brief example I can share is that a friend of mine is a single father who lives solely on welfare. A Simple House helped in purchasing a car through a no-interest payment agreement. During my tenure, he and I have worked together to effectively manage his plan given the recent economic challenges. Building off the foundation of our friendship, we were able to negotiate a solution that would hold him accountable but still allow him to provide for his family. For the last twenty years, A Simple House has proven this to be an effective model for addressing the current challenges of poverty and homelessness. I am extremely grateful to be a part of such a unique organization that takes a personable approach and I look forward to utilizing it in future professional opportunities.
