About Nathan Ayer
Nathan brings an interdisciplinary approach to his work, along with a strong background as a consultant, academic researcher, and instructor. He is a certified LCA practitioner (LCACP) and Certified LCA Reviewer (CLAR) under the ACLCA and has been working as a senior LCA analyst, advisor, and now Director for Canadian and U.S. clients since 2009. As part of EarthShift Global's senior management team, he helps to lead the company's analytical team by mentoring LCA analysts, providing senior oversight on projects, guiding research efforts and approaches on projects, and supporting business development efforts. He also frequently chairs ISO critical reviews for EarthShift Global clients, and contributes to the development and delivery of LCA training courses. Nathan has experience with other environmental management tools such as Environmental Impact Assessment and has previously worked for government environment departments in Canada. Nathan holds a joint Instructor position with the School for Resource and Environmental Studies and College of Sustainability at Dalhousie University. In this role Nathan teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses in sustainability, ecological economics, and environmental economics. He has also created a new introductory LCA course that was offered for the first time to senior undergraduate and graduate students in January 2025. Nathan is broadly recognized for his excellent teaching and communication skills and is frequently invited to deliver guest lectures and has presented his work at several industry conferences.
