About Nathan Hodder

I lead BDO Guernsey’s Insurance practice, overseeing a multi award-winning team and a diverse portfolio of clients across commercial, RGI and captive insurance entities regulated by the GFSC. Whilst insurance is my primary specialism, my portfolio extends to family offices and fiduciary service providers, reflecting the cross-sector expertise Guernsey’s financial services community increasingly demands.As a Fellow of the ACCA and holder of an Audit Practice Certificate, I bring deep technical expertise to every engagement. I serve on the BDO Audit Stream Executive and sat on BDO’s Global IFRS 17 Sub-Committee, contributing to audit strategy, quality and innovation at firm and global level. I also contributed to the GSCCA working party on solvency rules for (re)insurance entities, work that directly informed local regulatory thinking.I serve as Engagement Quality Reviewer for a number of BDO’s listed audit engagements, providing independent scrutiny of audit conclusions, challenging significant judgements, and ensuring audit quality, independence and ethical standards are rigorously upheld. It is a responsibility I approach with the seriousness it demands.Audit is the foundation of my practice. Alongside it, I provide an emerging regulatory advisory capability, helping clients navigate GFSC requirements, regulatory change and evolving international standards. My involvement in standard-setting at both local and global level means I can bridge regulatory intent with practical client reality.Operationally, I have led implementation of ISA (UK) 315, ISA (UK) 800, ISQM 1 and new audit technologies, strengthening quality frameworks and modernising delivery across the practice.I sit on the Executive Board of the GSCCA, serve on the GIIA FutureGen Committee, and regularly attend Guernsey Finance events, committed to the profession, the next generation, and the island’s international reputation.I am a certified Mental Health First Aider.
