About Nathan Logston

Hello! My name is Nathan Logston, and I'm an Aerospace Engineer. I'm currently an Applications Engineer under the Evolution Motioneering Group! At Iowa State University, I was part of a student led project program called Make 2 Innovate. This program allows students to hone and use their engineering skills to complete engineering challenges. This provides students with real world experience. In Make 2 Innovate, I was part of the competition rover team, MAVRIC. I held the position of Systems Team Lead, where I helped shape the rover's computer and electrical systems. While Mechanical and Science team provide the rover structure and our mission skills, the systems team ties everything together and makes it work. I worked with and lead my team to add new devices and sensors to our array, as well as working with industry software and hardware, like the Robot Operating System, C++, Python, CAN, I2C, Nvidia Jetson products and Intel Realsense. I worked on a few projects, one of which was with Rexroth's ctrlX CORE and ctrlX SAFETY modules to create a demo which showcases the various features the ctrlX platform can offer for industrial automation. Another project allowed me to work with Rexroth's modular conveyor system with Cobot and Geek+ Robotics Platforms. These robots allow for the manipulation of products and delicate parts, such as batteries and packaging. I was also a part of the Make 2 Innovate Lab Technician Team! I provided support to other M2I teams, with tools, parts, advice, and critiques. I also run the Howe Hall Additive Manufacturing Lab, where we provide additive manufacturing services to teams like HABET, CyLaunch, CySAT and Boeing Experimental Flight. I also provide support to all the Aerospace Senior Design teams and the Aerospace Capstone projects with my 3 years of experience. I work with Prusa, Creality, Markforge, Raise3D, Makerbot, Stratasys, and some DIY homemade 3d printers!
