About Nathan Lumby

Currently an acting director (CTO) at Compatink Ltd, an E-Commerce business specializing in providing good quality, low cost compatible ink and toner cartridges, focused on maintaining good customer relations and interaction. Following graduation from Applied Computing at Northumbria University, I found myself gaining employment at voice marketing, in an Outbound Sales role. Here I was required to sell additional contracts to existing customers, before then moving onto Capita Customer Management as a Customer Service Adviser. This allowed me the experience of working for one of the largest energy companies in the UK, managing customer accounts, complaints and queries. This required me to simultaneously navigate the multiple counter-intuitive systems required to assess accounts, while also listening and engaging to the customer, who was often less than happy to be calling. I move on from this, to a role where I was interacting with customers via email submitted complaints. While this required little in the way of acquiring new knowledge, it did require quick adaptation of my existing skills as I was now conversing via the written word. I changed client and found myself taking calls for a charity, wherein members of the public would contact in to an emergency line to report acts of cruelty and abuse to animals. The difference in this role required me to keep a cool head, gather information, and ensure the call is completed correctly, all while dealing with often distressed and upset callers. While I have found myself thriving within the aforementioned roles, I was limited in progression and scope. As such, I have taken part in the launching of a new business, as one of 3 directors of Compatink Ltd. An experience in computing, gained via personal interest and years of education, coupled with my experience working within business and with customers, has afforded me the opportunity to take up this new directorship role.
