About Nathan McElwain

As a recent graduate from the University of Florida, I strive to implement the expertise I developed at university into my workflow while learning new skills from experienced engineers. In my time as an undergrad, I completed a variety of hands-on projects consisting of a total six engineering lab and design classes. Many of these courses involved group assignments which gave me a great deal of experience working on an engineering team. These courses offered hundreds of hours of exposure and training to a multitude of engineering software packages. Within my curriculum, I developed technical skills such as mechanical design, programming, data acquisition, advanced simulations, and more. In addition to these technical skills, I gained valuable leadership skills through my project management curriculum, extracurricular leadership roles, and engineering design teams. I am currently working and learning at Volvo Trucks North America as an Associate Mechanical Engineer in Chassis Engineering. Working in product development I have the opportunity to contribute to new designs for Chassis Structures. Before working at Volvo, I had previous experience working in the automotive industry, defense industry, and laundry automation industry. My wide range of engineering experience has granted me a glimpse of how large corporations operate and how engineering teams function. Each day is an opportunity for me to learn something new from other engineers and hone my skills.
