About Nathan Shipton

Graduating with a first in 2017 as a mechanical engineer, I have five years of experience in different departments with a Nickel based superalloy manufacturer, giving me experience with processes from forging to pilgering, machining to extrusion. Along the way I have picked up a great set of skills in data analysis and project management, running improvement projects in different areas of the factory to reduce cost and downtime, and increase yield and quality. I enjoy my job and the range of people I get to work with on a day to day basis; having the constant fresh input of a parallel university course has also been interesting: I am keen to continue to develop professionally in this way. In my real life, I look forward to leading my Sunday morning youth group every week and seeing them develop together, and heating up bits of metal and hitting them with a hammer (not at the same time!). My main hobby would have to be creativity, from my home-made forge to knitting and painting. I am looking to work towards Chartered status, and keen to keep moving forward in my professional development.
