About Nathan Steffen

Hello! My name's Nate, and I am a first year PhD student at the University of Cincinnati. My degree focus is in Aerospace Engineering, specifically in dynamics and controls. At UC, I am a part of the Space Strategic Technologies Initiative (SSTI) funded by the USSF, and my work regards the validation and verification of AI for in-space control systems. Overall, I am fascinated by the role that AI will have in driving humanity further into space!Along with my work as a graduate student at UC, I am a Pathways Engineering Intern at NASA Glenn Research Center. Here, I aid the mission design team in optimizing low-thrust trajectories to the moon and beyond. Similar to my work at UC, I aim to implement AI in a trustworthy and effective way to this project so non-intuitive, efficient trajectories can be found and analyzed rapidly. Feel free to reach out!
