About Nathan Walters

I am a motivated and practical 2nd year Civil Engineering student, currently studying for a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons).I have had a range of holiday and after-school jobs, including working as an assembly worker in a pallet factory, a kitchen hand in a school boarding house, and a senior surf lifeguard with Surf Lifesaving New Zealand (SLSNZ).As a qualified lifeguard, I have undertaken a variety of roles including, Volunteer Patrol Captain and Paid Head Guard along Coromandel beaches. I have grown from a Junior Lifeguard to a Senior Lifeguard, trusted to manage crises and life-threatening situations. I am and have been a Committee Member of the Pauanui Surf Lifesaving Club for the past 3 years and most recently became their Powercraft Officer.In my role at Timpack Industries, I worked as a Machine Operator and Process Worker. Working for Timpack developed my time and self-management skills as well as the basic discipline to turn up on time, complete my tasks to the required standard and meet the productivity targets. My problem-solving skills were helpful in assessing and fixing machinery breakdowns, and my ability to work with others helped to improve the factory´s productivity.In addition to my work experience, I have held leadership roles, including being a full school prefect at St Paul´s Collegiate School (2022), Head of Fisher House at Rochester and Rutherford (2023) and captain of various rugby teams. My involvement in surf lifesaving and various volunteer activities further highlight my enthusiasm and dedication.Through rowing, rugby and other sports I have developed a competitive nature and self-discipline. I am recognised for my strong interpersonal skills, leadership, problem-solving abilities, communication, teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, and hard-working nature.As a very enthusiastic individual, I am driven by a passion for engineering and a commitment to making a positive impact in every role I undertake.With a great mix of academic, working and extracurricular skills I believe I would be an asset to any company I worked for.
