About Nathaniel Doherty

My work history is varied and I consistently rely upon it in each new effort. I have worked in publishing, agriculture, hospitality, and higher education. After a brief time teaching high school in Hamden, CT, I pursued and earned an MA in American literature from University College Dublin. I returned to the US to work at the Globe Pequot Press, as the Reprint Coordinator. From there I went on my Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Women's and Gender Studies at the Stony Brook University (SUNY). While pursuing that degree, I taught extensively at Stony Brook in the Writing, English, and Women's and Gender Studies programs. While completing my dissertation I relocated to Chadron, NE, and began teaching writing and English classes at Chadron State College. I completed my dissertaiton in May of 2018. Since that time I have taught both college and high school at Chadron State and Bard High School Early College Baltimore. My scholarly focus is 20th and 21st-century U.S. literature (specifically Science Fiction and Native American Literature) but my teaching ranges well beyond. In 2022 I made the decision to transition to higher ed. focused instructional design. I am currently one of two Instructional Design Technology Specialists at Chadron State College.
