Background
About Nathaniel Edmonds
Currently working with ambient seismic noise data to characterize subsurface geology and tectonic structure. I am very interested in exploring viability of using ambient noise measurements to constrain stress fields near fault zones. Career interests include developing and utilizing passive seismicity to characterize and explore subsurface geology and locate/extract natural resources. Academic research interests include: ambient seismic noise tomography, seismic velocity monitoring, applications of diffuse noise wave field monitoring on extraterrestrial bodies in the solar system, utilizing passive seismicity to monitor groundwater conditions. Personal research interests-Paleogene floral assemblages of Oregon, their phylogenetic diversity, and morphological paleoclimatic indicators in relation to geologic reconstructions of sea level, topography, continental placement, and atmospheric conditions-In depth stratigraphy of Molalla & Scotts Mills Fms. and implications on climatic reconstructions of Paleo-Oregon coastline from plant fossils-Structural mapping of Scotts Mills fault zone using ambient noise -Geological mapping of Rattlesnake Mountain dike complex and contact metamorphism of hornblende rich volcaniclastics, special interest in extensional micro faulting of volcaniclastic interbeds-Investigating changes in photosynthetic rates, transpiration/leaf potential/tree stress, nutrient allocation, pollination rates, and crop yield as a result of phytomorphological variations in Corylus avellana EFB-resistant cultivars. Merits of free growing C. avellana in the Willamette Valley setting-Investigation of dynamic stress accommodation of scaffold limbs within C. avellana cultivars-Investigation of possible variations in Total Leaf Area (TLA) between phytomorphological variations in EFB-resistant cultivars, both own-rooted and grafted. Impacts of higher/lower TLA within Hazelnuts.
