About Nathaniel Manning

Passionate full-time event manager and technician based in Pōneke, Aotearoa (Wellington, New Zealand), dedicated to enhancing the student experience in tertiary education. Whilst the primary focus of my current role is in event planning, H&S analysis, patron safety, security, and delivery, it also requires me to regularly play the role of an AV technician, venue manager, volunteer manager, and consultant. With no two days ever looking the same, I have successfully produced and managed a diverse range of events, including live music gigs meetings and conferences, panel discussions, stallholder expos, campaign launches, activations, and online events. I'm an avid learner, always keen to explore new technologies and experiment with new ideas. Over the last five years, ensuring the safety of young eventgoers has been a particular priority, especially for first-year university students experiencing newfound independence. My key focuses have included: • Alcohol management planning • Bystander intervention training • Facilitating drug checking services and harm-minimisation advice • Enhancing venue and patron safety measures • Providing staffed “Safe Rooms” with volunteers and medical personnel to support distressed, injured or intoxicated attendees I want every attendee at one of our events to have not just a fun time, but a safe time as well. Outside of work, you'll most likely find me gaming with friends, or finding time to relax with a crossword puzzle or word game. I'm a keen audiophile and musician, and a dedicated tropical fish-keeper with (too) many aquariums! My most recent hobby has been 3D printing, and the mix of technical and artistic challenges that it brings.
