Dr. Nathaniel ("Nat") Longley has a PhD in Particle Astrophysics and a JD with a focus on Intellectual Property Law. As a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech, Nat studied cosmic rays and magnetic monopoles, and helped prove the neutrino has mass. Nat's teaching concentrated on quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and relativity - for which his research advisor Barry Barish won the 2017 Nobel Prize, leading the LIGO group that discovered gravitational waves. As an attorney, Nat leverages his deep technological expertise and broad IP experience to help clients build outstanding, business-focused global portfolios in aerospace, electrical engineering, medical devices, cloud-based computing, and energy industries. His favorite inventions range from rocket motors to sports-based motion tracking, medical imaging, and percussion instruments.
